Vegan bacon. It’s the holy grail for many vegans, isn’t it? What if we told you that we’d discovered a vegan bacon recipe that is so fast, so easy, and so tasty that you’ll want to make it and eat it all the time? It’s dulse bacon, but with a twist, and that twist is what makes it extra special. And with only 2 ingredients (well, 3 if you count the olive oil spray as an ingredient) it’s not only super easy and super fast, but it’s also super good for you!

What’s that you ask? Super good for you too? Yes! Because it’s made with dulse, and dulse is quite literally a superfood (and we don’t use that term lightly)! Dulse is rich in iron, potassium, calcium, chromium, magnesium, Omega 3 (often a challenge to get for vegans), B-12 (ditto), and vitamins A, B6, and C. Wow! It also contains iodine, which is good for your thyroid (although if eaten in sufficient quantities it can impact your thyroid, so even though you will want to eat bunches of this vegan bacon every day, you may want to eat it in moderation depending on your own thyroid).
And there are so many ways that you can enjoy this vegan bacon! Next to your vegan, gluten-free pancakes, crumbled on top of our delicious gluten-free, vegan mac n’ cheese #3, or in your favorite sandwich! And, of course, straight out of the bowl (or baking pan, if you can’t wait)!
Thank you! ❤️

The one caution about this is that it is very thin, almost paper-thin. This is in part what gives it its crispness, but it also means that if you are looking to replicate thick-cut bacon, this isn’t the recipe for you. With that said, here’s the recipe!
Easy Vegan Bacon with Just 2 Ingredients!
The main ingredients for this vegan bacon are:
Whole leaf dulse
Smoked salt
You will also want some sort of oil spray (olive, avocado, what have you – we use olive oil spray).
Now, the whole leaf dulse that we use comes from Essential Organic Ingredients, but you can also get whole leaf dulse here on Amazon.
It may seem a bit pricey, but you would not believe how long a half pound or pound of whole leaf dulse will last you. It’s actually a very good value!
As for the smoked salt, we use the Frontier brand of smoked salt, but any brand will do (you might be surprised to find that smoked salt is pretty common and easy to find).
Whole Leaf Dulse and Smoked Salt to Make Vegan Bacon
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°
Spray a large, rimmed cookie or baking sheet with oil spray.
Lay out your dulse on the tray.
Lightly spray it with the oil spray, and then sprinkle it with the smoked salt. How much salt you use depends on your taste. Keep in mind that dulse itself is somewhat salty, and salt accordingly. After making a batch or two of this, you’ll figure out just how lightly or heavily to salt it for your taste.
Flip the pieces of dulse over, and spray with oil and salt the second side.
Put the dulse in the oven for 5 minutes (and not a moment more!).
Remove the dulse from the oven, flip each piece over, and put it back in the oven for just 2 to 3 minutes. If you let it go too long, it will burn.
Vegan Dulse Bacon Fresh Out of the Oven
Remove from oven, let cool, and break into whatever size pieces you want. Store in an airtight container.
