One of the coolest things about the shelf-stable, aseptic boxes of Mori-Nu organic silken tofu is how utterly versatile it is. Yet this unsung hero of the vegan world is often overlooked, passed by on store shelves for its water-packed, refrigerated cousins. Hopefully our easy creamy vegan
salad dressing and dip recipe will change that!

By the way, the Mori-Nu organic silken tofu is considered ‘soft tofu’; it doesn’t say it anywhere on the box but that has been confirmed by Mori-nu. This is important to know as there is such a thing as firm silken tofu and even extra-firm silken tofu. If it doesn’t refer to firmness at all, it’s soft silken. Both the firm and extra-firm silken indicate that on the box.
Mori-Nu Organic Silken Tofu is Considered a ‘Soft Silken Tofu’
One of the cool things about this tofu is that you can buy it on sale and then just let it sit on a shelf until you need or want it. So far as we know, Mori-Nu is the only company that makes it like this, and that makes sense as they invented it! As they explain on their site, “One major difference between Morinaga and other tofu in the market today is the award-winning aseptic packaging process. During this packaging process, the food inside is never exposed to light, air, or bacteria, all of which can lead to spoilage. Developed by Tetra Pak of Sweden in 1979, this proprietary packaging is unique,” adding that “This means Morinaga Silken Tofu offers you the freshest flavor with no sour taste and no bacterial contamination while at the same time assuring you of complete nutrient retention.”
Thank you! ❤️

More often you will find the Mori-Nu soft silken tofu being used in dessert recipes, including our own Almond Joy Chocolate Mousse and vegan chocolate and vanilla pots de creme and almond creme.
But we also use this tofu in savory dishes, such as our Easy High-Protein Vegan Cheese Sauce. And while the original recipe calls for firm silken tofu, we have very successfully made our copycat version of Chef Babette’s amazing and amazingly easy SIE sauce with this soft silken tofu!
But now we’re going to tell you how to turn this versatile ingredient into a creamy vegan dressing and dip!
Just look at this creamy dressing!
We make this in our high-speed Ninja blender, which blends right into the cup, and then with the drink-through lid we can just put it in the fridge and easily pour out whatever amount we want! But of course any high speed blender will do!
Super-Easy Creamy Vegan Salad Dressing and Dip Using Shelf-Stable Boxed Soft Silken Tofu!
Ingredients
One box Mori-Nu soft silken tofu
2 Tablespoons vegan yogurt (Try our easy homemade soy or almond yogurt!)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon liquid aminos
1-2 teaspoons herbs or other seasonings of your choice
1 grind or dash salt
1 grind or a few dashes pepper
Directions
Put everything in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. If you are making a dip, add in whatever dip ingredients you want, and if you want it a little thicker, blend in a teaspoon of cornstarch or tapioca. If, for example, you are making a spinach or mushroom dip, you probably won’t need to add any thickener.
The Happy Gluten-Free Vegan is always free, with no annoying ads or video pops, but it does cost us money out of our pocket to keep it going (over 12 years so far!) So your tips via CashApp, Venmo, or Paypal are VERY appreciated. Receipts will come from ISIPP.
